urbansurfaces2 (2005-2010) - part 2

As I continued making the digital urbansurfaces images, I remember a flood of exuberance and excitement so profound it left me literally breathless. I'd been on a sort of hiatus as I digested the loss of the photographic processes I'd invested so much in becoming good at. During that hiatus, I'd missed this connection to urbansurfaces so much. As I started seeing and pursuing capture of urbansurfaces again, I became fairly single minded for a while.

A subset of these images were captured in a window of a few days when I attended what was meant to be a conference for technology innovation. The building in which the tech gathering was being held was under construction, and I found myself wandering around swooning over unfinished floors (swirls of adhesive!, tile grout!). I have no significant memory of the meetings I attended, but these images conjure for me the elation that I felt prowling around the building before, during, and after the event.

This group is mostly higher-key. I love the subtlety of the colors, and the decorative patterning in some of the texture and marks.
